Identity

Queer Duality

By February 26, 2018 No Comments

Growing up queer in the bible belt, you quickly learn that in order to survive, you’ve got to know when you can and can’t openly express yourself. It’s all about the simple things: your mannerisms, your speech, your appearance. All of these things can draw unwanted attention towards you when you’re surrounded by people who don’t agree with you living your truth. Most of the queer community can relate to the use of dual identities as a coping mechanism. Within each of us is our authentic self as well as the self that we present to the public. In this shoot, we hoped to capture this duality as tangibly and vividly as possible.
